Vowels

(Short vowels and Long vowels)

Just as we can change the direction of a horse by pulling on the bit in its mouth,

in the same way, we can change the pronunciation of a word

by pronouncing the word with a different vowel sound.

 There are five "short" vowels: a, e, i, o, u

There are five "long" vowels: a, e, i, o, u

Let's see what changing these "short" vowels does to a word:

                                                                                    bat

                                                        bet

                                                        bit

                                                        bot

                                                        but

Let's see what changing these "long" vowels does to a word:

                                                        bait

                                                        beat

                                                        bite

                                                        boat

                                                        brute

VOWELS ARE VITAL for reading and pronouncing words correctly.

Recognizing, pronouncing, and blending vowels correctly

                                                CHANGES EVERYTHING!

Unfortunately, a good share of American children CANNOT recognize or

pronounce the vowel sounds well enough to change anything.

In fact, more often than not, children simply "guess" at the vowel sounds.

And worse, many children have no idea what a vowel is or what a vowel can do.

With The Candy 4WAY Phonics Program, parents are instructed in how to teach their children     to "punch" the vowels when they read them, so that the child can CLEARLY hear the difference between the vowel sounds. In the process, parents, themselves, learn the vowel sounds:

              a) Parents learn to distinguish between the sounds of the vowels,

              b) Parent learn to pronounce the vowels correctly, and

              c) Parents see how much easier reading is when they know how to

recognize, sound out, and blend the vowel sounds with other letters.

Parents clearly see that vowel sounds CAN CHANGE EVERYTHING
