 The Candy 4WAY Phonics System

Question: How exactly does the program work?
Answer: The Candy 4WAY Phonics Program involves just five easy steps:

Step 1) The first step is teaching the sounds that all the letters make. This is done by introducing the child to The Candy Basic Alphabet Charts which contain all the letters of the alphabet in three formats:

a) an alphabet letter next to a picture representing the sound for that letter,

b) an alphabet letter spaced exactly the same on the page but without the picture,

c) a vowel drill page to help children learn to "punch" the vowel sounds.

The fun part about The first two Candy 4WAY Phonics Charts above is that they rhyme, making it easier for children to learn and remember the alphabet sounds they need to master.

Step 2) The second step involves the Candycane Blend Lessons. With these lessons, written at K4/K5 level, the child will learn to blend an initial consonant with each of the vowels. Each lesson has one picture that represents one of the blends in the lesson. The child will have fun picking out which blend the picture stands for. For example: the “su” blend would stand for the picture of the “sun.”

Step 3) After the blends, the child moves to the Candy Sprinkle Blend Lessons. There are 20 lessons here that contain the same blends as above except that they tack on a third letter so that the child is now reading three-letter words with a short vowel.

Step 4) Reading comes next. Sequenced after every five Candy Sprinkle Blend Lessons, the child is given a Candy 4WAY Phonics Sequenced Story Reader.  Each sequenced 4WAY phonics reader contains ONLY words made up of sounds the child has already learned. Each story reader will give your child practice, in story form, for all those phonograms he has been learning on the daily charts.

Step 5) Learning and reading continues with Candy 4WAY Phonics Blend Lessons, along with Candy 4WAY Phonics Sequenced Readers following after every five Blend Lessons. The Blend Lessons contain fun, sentences (many in rhyme), phrases, and dialog to give children adequate practice with all forms of sentence structure.

The Candy 4WAY Phonics Program Age 4 through Grade 4 Reading contains five sets of twenty daily Blend Lessons for a total of 100 daily Blend Lessons.

The Blend Lesson sections in order are:
